Jeanie Marie Buss was born in America. She is currently the president and the controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss is an California native, and was raised by a wealthy family. Jerry Buss, her father was a businessman with a real estate business who later became owner of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. Her parents parted ways in 1972 which made her feel that she was emotionally neglected. Her family's business was started at the age of 19 as general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. The team was later renamed an organization called the Los Angeles Blades, a professional roller-hockey team. The position she held was President of Great Western Forum prior to being elected vice-president of the Lakers. Her father died in 2013, and the control of the Lakers was passed on to Buss as well as her siblings via a trust for the family which gave each sibling an equal vote. Her duties were assumed as president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also the co-owner of Women of Wrestling a pro-wrestling organization based at Los Angeles.
